Where I've Been
Every job taught me something the last one didn't.
Synchresis Solutions
Co-CEO • 2023 – Present • Harlan, KY
Co-founded a technology services company with Nick Giannak III. We provide white-glove voice, web, and tier-3 technical services to businesses that are tired of being treated like ticket numbers. I built the entire infrastructure from scratch — multi-node PostgreSQL clustering, HAProxy load balancing, automated failover, the works. I also wrote the CMS this site runs on.
Desert IT Solutions
Consulting Systems Engineer • 2022 – 2024 • Remote
Contract role in a fast-paced MSP. I was the escalation point when the standard playbook ran out — the person they brought in for the hard stuff. Server and infrastructure engineering, telephony systems (3CX, FreeSWITCH, Asterisk), and the go-to expert for every macOS issue across the client base. Managed environments spanning vSphere, ESXi, Hyper-V, and every flavor of Linux and Windows Server.
dOpenSource
Telephony Engineer • 2021 – 2022 • Morganton, NC
Pure telephony work. Built solutions on Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and Kamailio for clients who needed open-source alternatives to commercial platforms. This is where I sharpened my skills on Kamailio/OpenSER specifically.
OrthoCarolina
Systems Engineer • 2017 – 2021 • Charlotte, NC
Nearly four years running the Cisco UC stack for a major orthopedic practice — CallManager, Unity Connection, Contact Centre. But the thing I'm proudest of from this job is the IBM AIX mainframe I inherited and kept running. Real big iron. I also provided frontline desktop and telephony support, because in healthcare IT you wear every hat.
Collabora Ltd
Associate Software Engineer • 2015 – 2017 • Greensboro, NC
Built internal tooling to speed up business processes and pitched in with the sysadmin team. Collabora is an open-source consultancy, so the engineering culture was rigorous and the code review was thorough.
myLanguage
Software Engineer & Mobile Developer • 2011 – 2014 • Greensboro, NC
Two separate stints. Mobile app development, web projects, VoIP work. Came back the second time with supervisory responsibilities over project resources. This is where I cut my teeth on production mobile development.
Self Health Network
Software Engineer • 2013 – 2014 • Ithaca, NY
Web and mobile applications, plus building out the developer toolchain — I wrote the tools that let the team build and test iOS and Android apps directly on their workstations instead of waiting for cloud build queues. Also monitored and maintained the Linux server fleet.
Beyond IT / TBRNTech
Chief Technology Officer • 2005 – 2011 • Greensboro, NC
My first real infrastructure leadership role. Managed all IT assets, server systems, network architecture, and web presence. Continued as a volunteer CTO and emergency responder long after the formal role ended, because when you build something you care about, you don't just walk away.
Earlier Career
2000 – 2011
Ran my own shops — first as EbertSoft Technologies (freelance IT services, on-site support, web design), then as Quinn Ebert Networked Technology (mobile and desktop app development, VoIP system administration, server security consulting). These years taught me how to run a business, talk to clients, scope projects accurately, and deliver on time when I was the only person who could.
